For the second day in a row, Conservative Leader Erin O’Toole is booked in for a mid-morning media availability in the West Block press theatre, although this time around, he’s likely hoping to spend significantly less time fielding questions about the “unhelpful” commentary on COVID-19 vaccine mandates emanating from the back benches of his caucus.

O’Toole faced a flurry of question from reporters yesterday about Conservative MP and one-time leadership hopeful Marilyn Gladu’s assertion, offered during an interview with Evan Solomon, host of CTV’s Question Period, that COVID doesn’t carry the same “frequency of risk” of death or disability as polio, as well as newly elected MP — and another former leadership rival — Leslyn Lewis’s concerns over vaccinating children.

“When asked if he planned to speak with Lewis and Gladu, O’Toole didn’t answer the question directly, but said any such conversation will be confidential, and any decision will comply with the Reform Act,” iPolitics reported yesterday.
