International Day of Older Persons – Nunavik Edition “Nothing For Us Without Us!”

Kuujjuaq, Québec, September 30, 2015 – The Kativik Regional Government (KRG) and the Nunavik Regional Board of Health and Social Services (NRBHSS) are pleased to jointly participate on October 1 in the celebration in Nunavik of the International Day of Older Persons, under the regional theme “Nothing For Us Without Us!” Tune into Taqramiut Nipingat Inc. regional radio (FM 94.1) from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Listeners including elders will be invited to call in to express their appreciation of Nunavik elders or voice their concerns about elders’ issues.

In 1990, the United Nations General Assembly designated October 1 as the International Day of Older Persons. Nunavimmiut are very proud to have been a part of these international celebrations for the past six years. The KRG and the NRBHSS encourage residents and partner organizations to support and participate in local and regional activities.
