Indigenous health agency to develop family centre – The London Free Press

November 13, 2018

City hall is handing over control for London’s newest family centre to an Indigenous health agency chosen to build and lead the facility.

Close to $6 million in provincial funds will flow through city hall to construct and begin operations at the family centre, offering programs and services for Indigenous children and their families.

The Southwest Ontario Aboriginal Health Access Centre (SOAHAC) will take the lead on the project.

“The fact that SOAHAC is getting this funding, $5.2 million in capital funding through the province of Ontario, and then $600,000 in operational funding, that’s really good news,” said Coun. Maureen Cassidy, who chairs the community and protective services committee.
