Indigenous agencies work to reduce cancer on local First Nations – Dryden Now

There is increased funding for the regional Indigenous cancer program.

The money will go towards hiring another full-time position.

Yolanda Fobister says the goal is to reduce the incidence of cancer in Treaty #3 area.

“The mortality rates of Treaty #3 members is higher than those in other Ontario First Nations in other regions,” explains Fobister.

“So we want to really to advocate for screening. We want to catch these cancers early.”
