HPPH board meetings will include land acknowledgement – StratfordToday.ca

Huron Perth Public Health (HPPH) will now include a land acknowledgement at their monthly board of health meetings.
HPPH has an internal Indigenous Working Group (IWG) focused on Indigenous initiatives, including a land acknowledgment and a land acknowledgment user guide, which can be used by individuals or groups for meetings and events, per a report prepared for the board by Dr. Lauren Hayward, physician consultant, and members of HPPH’s Indigenous Working Group.
The recommendation was to include the delivery of a land acknowledgment at the start of each board meeting.
There was “strong agreement” to move forward with it, Dr. Hayward told StratfordToday, noting she was pleased the board agreed to it at their recent meeting.
“There was much fruitful discussion but no opposition.”
