This Sunday, April 29th, the community will once again come together to support our neighbours who are at risk, or experiencing homelessness.
Held bi-annually at the Shaw Conference Centre, Homeless Connect Edmonton provides free services such as dentistry, foot care, haircuts, laundry and employment and training services to homeless and at-risk individuals in our community. The event is a partnership between Homeward Trust Edmonton, the Shaw Conference Centre, United Way of the Alberta Capital Region and the Edmonton Economic Development Corporation. Additionally, a larger steering committee comprising members of community organizations assists in the planning and delivery of the event. With the help of generous sponsors, as well as upwards of 400 volunteers, the event has proven to be a community success story. Each event sees an attendance of between 1,400-1,700 guests. In additon to taking advantage of the 60+ services available to them, guests also receive a complimentary care kit, which is packaged and distributed by the United Way In-Kind Centre.
