‘Healthy Active Natives’ Group Inspires Thousands Of Indigenous People To Get Healthy – HuffPost Canada

An Indigenous personal trainer wanted to see a healthy Indigenous community online. So he created one.

When Waylon Pahona began his online search for an Indigenous wellness community, he didn’t get any results. He Googled, scoured Facebook and YouTube, but found nothing.

“I used to work as a personal trainer in a physical therapy setting and realized that, being in that field of work, there wasn’t a lot of natives in health and wellness,” said Pahona.

A little more than five years ago, he started Healthy Active Natives (HANs), a Facebook group for Indigenous people who are on a journey to better physical and mental health.
