Health unit warns of infection risk at Carleton Place beauty bar – CBC

Manicure, pedicure and waxing clients should seek medical advice

Oct 29, 2025

Southeast Public Health says anyone who got a manicure, pedicure or wax from Ivy Beauty Bar in Carleton Place, Ont., from the end of May 2023 until about two weeks ago may have been exposed to improperly cleaned equipment and possibly infection.

The health unit said on Oct. 17, an inspector found single-use items being reused and inadequate cleaning of reusable equipment.

It’s recommending anyone who received one of those services between May 31, 2023, and Oct. 17 of this year talk to a health-care provider about whether they need to be tested for blood-borne infections.

Specifically, a health-care provider may recommend testing for hepatitis B or C, or HIV.

The health unit said it does not know of any infection linked to the McNeely Avenue beauty bar. It said the risk of infection is low, and the business now meets infection prevention standards.
