The Residential School Research Project team at the Southern Chiefs’ Organization (SCO) can help you with accessing records about your history and family members!
The Hudson Bay Company (HBC) Archives has launched a new index of Indigenous names, drawn from select HBC records from the years 1790 to 1917.
The index includes the names of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis people who interacted with the HBC. The names are taken from account books, censuses, correspondence, and Treaty lists. The records feature original names, translations, name changes, family information, and other personal details.
