RE:           Pre-Cautionary Boil Water Advisory UPDATE

Garden River First Nation still remains under PRE-CAUTIONARY BOIL WATER ADVISORY (BWA).

BWA in effect for the following areas:

  • HWY 17B Root River – Echo River Road (Not the Echo River Residents – separate well system)
  • Ojibway Subdivision (Syrette Lake Road, Hiawatha, Mawquak, Meeheenguen, Whitebirch, Whiskey Jack and Jardin Mine)
  • Point Charles Subdivision (Park Road, Bell Street and Wagoosh)
  • Phushkwauk Subdivision (Noonday, Eagle, Sweetgrass, Blue Jay, Miizigan, Dreamcatcher, Sage, Ball Park and Forest)
  • Main Village (Green Sky, Gemah, Shingwauk and Puhguuaganiinii)

The GRFN Water Department’s water samples have come back as desired… Zero Coliforms and Zero E-coli. Yesterday our free chlorine residuals have not been as consistent as required and required more testing. Free Chlorine residual is the parameter we need to see in all of our drinking water samples to ensure safety and quality. Today, our Free Chorine residuals reached a good benchmark and require another 12 hours of desired results.

Since Friday, our Water Department team have been working around the clock as we fine tune our approach to get back to normal very soon. As always, we continue to work diligently to resolve this issue. You will be informed as soon as the Pre-cautionary BWA is lifted.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
