GOLD: Safe consumption site location not-so-secret any more – Winnipeg Sun

The Point Douglas Residents Committee was already ringing the alarm about the way the provincial government was trying to manipulate the public consultation process for a proposed Supervised Consumption Site destined for their neighbourhood.

But after discovering on Monday evening that a formal application has been filed with Health Canada to locate the facility at 200 Disraeli Freeway, without a single meeting being held with the community-at-large, the group says their concerns about fairness are now amplified.

“The PDRC executive believes it is crucial for our community’s voice to be heard and accurately represented in discussions surrounding this significant development,” they wrote to The Winnipeg Sun, because “according to federal guidelines for the SCS application process, residents are not considered key stakeholders.”
