Go Blue For World Diabetes Day
You’re invited to acknowledge World Diabetes Day by celebrating the remarkable type 1 diabetes (T1D)
Community of Toronto
Toronto, Ontario, November 13, 2015 – On November 14, 2015, millions of people around the world will mark United Nations (UN) World Diabetes Day (WDD), honouring the birthday of Dr. Frederick G. Banting, the Canadian co-discoverer of insulin, as part of an international campaign to raise public awareness about this chronic disease. JDRF Canada invites the city of Toronto to celebrate the remarkable people who are driven, ambitious and live with type 1 diabetes (T1D). Anyone can join the movement by taking part in a local activity or by making a donation in honour of a family member, a friend, a colleague or a neighbour who is affected by T1D.
The JDRF Toronto Chapter will be celebrating WDD by hosting its annual Promise Ball Gala. Since the very first
Toronto Promise Ball in the early 80’s, this amazing event has raised over $19 million – critical funds that have been directed to the most promising and innovative diabetes research. This year is no different. The goal of the Gala is to raise critical funds for T1D research. In addition to the Promise Ball Gala, the CN Tower will be lit blue to commemorate WDD.
You can discover remarkable stories of the local T1D community on: https://www.facebook.com/JDRFToronto/. Engage with the community, share their stories and help JDRF turn type one into type none.
