GNWT partners with Sunrise Healing Lodge to offer Indigenous addictions treatment options for residents

Press Release

August 1, 2023

The GNWT is pleased to announce a partnership with the Sunrise Healing Lodge, an Indigenous addictions treatment facility in Calgary. Sunrise Healing Lodge offers a wide range of Indigenous programming for addictions treatment.

Sunrise Healing Lodge is open to individuals from various backgrounds and incorporates Indigenous culture, spirituality, and the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous into its treatment approach.  Residents can benefit from a 14-week Treatment Program, which includes cultural teachings, sharing circles, educational sessions, and guest presentations.

This partnership expands the treatment options available to residents, providing them with additional support on their journey to recovery.

“The GNWT is committed to enhancing access to culturally appropriate and effective treatment services, and the collaboration with Sunrise Healing Lodge is a significant step towards achieving this goal.”

-Julie Green, Minister of Health and Social Services
