Fort Chipewyan Indigenous communities announce residential school site investigation – CFWE

The united communities are collaborating on the project to uncover the truth of their history and facilitate healing from the resulting trauma.
After receiving funding from both the provincial and federal government, Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation (ACFN), Mikisew Cree First Nation (MCFN) and Fort Chipewyan Métis Association (FCMA) are joining together to identify burial and grave sites at Holy Angels Residential School in Fort Chipewyan, AB.
The announcement comes immediately after Kapawe’no First Nation revealed 169 potential unmarked graves and burial sites at the former Grouard Mission site on March 1.
