NationTalk had the opportunity to talk to Keith Leclaire, CFNHM – Director General – Kawawachikamach at the FNHMA 5th Anniversary National Conference in Montreal where he discussed his history of being one of the first 3 Health Managers to be certified. He also talks about how being a health manager in a First Nation is very different then being one anywhere else.  You have to incorporate the communities culture and be able to design that into the programs you provide and make sure you have a distinct unique flavour on how you deliver health services.  Find out more about why he thinks people should pursue the “designation” and why he feels it’s important have a unique cultural lens when working in a First Nations health care setting.
