First Nations credited for care given to dogs – The Chronicle Journal

The Ontario Society For the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) wants to thank everyone for their continued support of our Provincial Animal Transfer Program. This program would not be possible without the public’s support, but it would also not be possible without the commitment to animal welfare shown by indigenous communities.

These communities care deeply about their animals. That passion is why we were invited by the chief, band councils and elders from Wabaseemoong Independent Nation and Mishkeegogamang First Nation to work together to transfer community dogs in need of homes, and to work on an animal management program through mobile spay/neuter services.

The dogs transferred from these communities are wonderful dogs and will make fabulous pets, thanks to the care and attention given to them by the indigenous communities.
