HAPPY VALLEY-GOOSE BAY, NL – The Labrador Friendship Centre is receiving $375,176 over three years from the HIV and Hepatitis C Community Action Fund.
Labrador MP Yvonne Jones announced the funding on behalf of Health Minister Ginette Petitpas on Tuesday, March 13.
It is part of $132 million the Public Health Agency of Canada is investing through the Community Action Fund over five years to assist organizations in addressing HIV and other sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections (STBBI).
The money will be used to support the Sexual Health Information Exchange Labrador District project to put culturally appropriate community-based interventions in place to reduce STBBIs.
One such example will see an art-based approach used to promote STBBI prevention among Indigenous youth.
