MISSION: Our goal is to help close the health status gap between BC’s Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal populations. We work toward achieving this goal in collaboration with Aboriginal communities, the First Nations Health Authority, BC provincial health authorities and the BC Ministry of Health.
VCH — “What is Cultural Competency” — Developing cultural knowledge, skills in understanding cross-cultural interactions, and an awareness and acceptance of the dynamic variety of people and populations we work with are all crucial components of cultural competency. Cultural competency is a continual process, which requires an organizational commitment to fostering an environment which is both culturally safe and respectful. This short video clip addresses all these ideals.
