Evacuation Order Hay River – Residents Must Evacuate

An Evacuation Order has been issued notifying residents that due to a wildfire near the community, all residents of Hay River must evacuate IMMEDIATELY.

All residents are asked to please avoid the area until further notice.

Registration is taking place both at the Hay River Community Centre and the Yellowknife Multiplex. Those requiring assistance leaving Hay River should register at the Hay River Community Centre.

Accommodations: Evacuees are encouraged to stay with family and friends. For those who do not have anywhere to stay, an evacuation centre is being stood up at the Yellowknife Multiplex. All evacuees entering the Yellowknife multiplex must be registered.

Transportation Assistance: Those who require transportation to Yellowknife can go to the Hay River Community Centre.

Detailed information regarding accommodations, transportation assistance and how evacuees should proceed will be communicated when registering.

South Slave Regional Emergency Management Organization is maintaining contact with the Town of Hay River and is prepared to support should assistance be required.
