Position Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Health Officer to join our team in Penticton, BC!Focusing on small water systems, the Environmental Health Officer will be responsible for using a variety of professional and technical skills. This position promotes and maintains a high standard of public health and enforces applicable health legislation, policies and standards. The EHO conducts inspections and risk assessments, identifies factors detrimental to community and environmental health, reduces the incidence of communicable disease, performs technical assessments, provides consultative and education services and ensures that community development does not conflict with a healthy environment.

Shifts of work are Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 16:30 with weekends and statutory holidays off. This position is located out of Penticton, but an alternate location may be considered for the successful applicant.

This is a temporary full time position and will run until approximately January 15, 2021.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in a health-related discipline; must have a certificate in Public Health Inspection (Canada) and must be registered or eligible to be registered with the Board of Registration of the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors BC Branch.Two year’s recent experience as a Public Health Inspector or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Current valid BC Driver’s License.
