Community, staff invited to sign Michael Garron Hospital’s ‘Unity Beam’
The final structural beam of a new building at East York’s Michael Garron Hospital (MGH) will soon installed marking the latest milestone in the construction of the Ken and Marilyn Thomson Patient Care Centre.
This afternoon, dozens of staff members and people from the community stopped by the hospital to sign the ‘Unity Beam’, which will be lifted to the roof of the building’s mechanical penthouse in late August.
Aside from being filled with signatures, the beam will be painted by Elder Little Brown Bear, the director of MGH’s Aboriginal Healing Program, along with members of the Indigenous community.
