December 01, 2015
December 3 is International Day of Persons with Disabilities. Join the Nunavummi Disabilities Makinnasuaqtiit Society, Inclusion Café and Department of Family Services from noon to 1 p.m., in the lobby of the Igluvut Building (#922), for free coffee, tea and baked goods.
To mark this day, people living with a mobility-related disability, and non-profit organizations that support people living with a mobility-related disability, are invited to apply for a Nunavut Solutions Grant.
The grant covers the cost of programs, equipment and services that improve the quality of life for individuals with mobility-related disabilities in our territory.
Successful applicants will share $20,000 to support the needs of Nunavummiut. In the past, the grant has funded wheelchairs and lifts, home renovations to increase accessibility, training or education opportunities, support services including respite care, and community programs for individuals living with a disability.
The deadline to apply is January 15, 2016. For more information and application forms, please contact the Nunavummi Disabilities Makinnasuaqtiit Society at 867-979-2228 or contact@nuability.ca.
