Curve Lake First Nation family of four treated at hospital after early-morning fire – Peterborough Examiner

CURVE LAKE — A family of four was hospitalized after a fire ripped through their Curve Lake First Nation home on Mississauga Street early Monday morning.

Firefighters with the Selwyn Fire Department responded to an emergency call at 1:10 a.m. By the time firefighters arrived at the residence, it was engulfed in flames, Andrew Bowyer, fire prevention officer and investigator at the Selwyn Fire Department, told The Examiner.

After managing to escape the blaze, the four family members were transported to hospital where they were each treated for smoke inhalation. A male occupant of the home received medical attention for burns on his hands after he made repeated attempts to retrieve items from inside the burning residence, according to Bowyer.
