COVID-19 Outbreak Declared at Weeneebayko General Hospital Inpatient Department

The Weeneebayko Area Health Authority (WAHA) along with Porcupine Health unit (PHU) has declared an outbreak in the Inpatient Department at Weeneebayko General Hospital (WGH) in Moose Factory, Ontario.

To date, 3 patients have tested positive and are stable and isolating in the COVID unit.

The area impacted is undergoing sterilization and all health, safety, and infection prevention and control protocols are currently in place.

As a result of this outbreak, effective immediately there will be no visitors allowed, however urgent/emergent/palliative situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

At this time, it is imperative that we all continue to adhere to public health regulations and do our part to contain the further spread of COVID-19.
