COVID-19 hospitalizations in Hamilton continue to decrease and are currently as low as they were before the most recent wave, but still above pre-Omicron levels, public health officials say.
“The seven-day average of new hospitalizations is about 1.1 per day,” said Erin Rodenburg, epidemiologist with Hamilton Public Health Services.
“The trend in ICU admissions over this wave [has] actually remained stable and low from the course of February 23rd until present. So, we do see decreasing trends in all of our indicators, and that’s good news that this most recent wave is continuing to decrease.”
Speaking Monday at a meeting of the city’s Board of Health, Rodenburg said the low hospitalizations reflects the fact that the transmission of COVID-19 continues to decrease in the community.
“The number of reported cases, per cent positivity, individuals being tested and wastewater signals all continue to decrease,” she said.
