Premier Joe Savikataaq announces 1 new case of the virus on Tuesday

The number of COVID-19 cases in Nunavut continues to fall this week, with a drop from 16 to 13 between Monday and Tuesday.

Premier Joe Savikataaq announced Tuesday just one new case of the virus detected in the territory.

Twelve of the 13 active cases in the territory are in Iqaluit, while one remains in Kinngait.

Over the long weekend, Savikataaq urged Nunavimmiut to stay home to help keep COVID-19 numbers down.

With COVID-19 cases isolated to just two communities, health officials have started to ease public health restrictions in most Qikiqtani communities.
