COMMUNITY LIASON – TB ELIMINATION

Under the direction of the Assistant Director, Health; two TB Champions are sought to support the community of Pangnirtung during the community-wide screening (CWS) for TB, which takes place September – December 2023. The TB Champion works as a liaison between the community and the CWS team, ensuring that community members have the information they need, promoting the CWS clinic and encouraging people to attend, and bringing community concerns forward. TB-specific training and support is available from TB experts at NTI and the GN. Examples of activities could include: participating in radio shows, running games and engagement activities, monitoring the community suggestion box and providing school presentations. Other activities or priorities may evolve during the CWS, as per direction from the community. Weekly check-ins will be held as a team with both Champions, NTI and GN community engagement staff.
The TB Champion is a temporary, full-time position, from September to December 2023. Hours are flexible.
The ideal candidate must be living in Pangnirtung, bilingual in Inuktitut and English, and have a passion for health promotion, knowledge mobilization, and community engagement. In depth knowledge of TB is not required, as it will be provided as on-the-job training. The candidate does not need to be a TB survivor – personal experience with TB is not required.
The Community Wide Screening will start on September 13th, 2023 and we would like to have these positions filled by then.
Salary is $30.00 per hour.
Preference will be given to Inuit enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement.
