Commissioner Marie Wilson on Lessons Learned from Canada’s Residential School Experience

The three TRC Commissioners are busy people. Justice Murray Sinclair, Chief Wilton Littlechild and Marie Wilson are present at all national events, and share the responsibility for local hearings between themselves. They’re also in dialogue with the Parties to the Settlement Agreement that created the TRC, including the federal government, national Inuit, Metis and First Nations organizations, survivors’ groups, and the five churches which ran the schools.

And beyond that, they are constantly sitting down with the media, talking with classes and grassroots groups, and participating in conferences and workshops.

On November 29, Commissioner Wilson offered the annual Jeanne Sauve speech in Montreal. As the mandate of the TRC enters its final 80 weeks, the need for more people to get involved in its work is ever more pressing. Please take a look at her words and think about what you can offer the journey.
