City of Kenora signs letter of intent to provide clean water to Wauzhushk Onigum First Nation – Kenora Daily Miner

Chief Chris Skead said the installation of water and sewage to the First Nation should be done by fall of 2019

After nearly 20 years, Wauzhushk Onigum (Rat Portage First Nation) will be getting clean drinking water.

At the Kenora city council committee of the whole meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 11, the city signed a letter of intent to supply the First Nation with water and sewage services.

“In this day and age it is just [horrible] that my community as well as other First Nation communities can’t have the luxury of other Canadians and get to go open up their water tap and have a drink,” Wauzhushk Onigum Chief Chris Skead said.
