More than 100 children at Cat Lake First Nation are suffering from skin rashes linked to the band’s ongoing black-mould crisis, advocates for the remote community said Thursday.
In a letter to Premier Doug Ford, NDP MPP Sol Mamakwa renewed calls on the province to play a greater role in solving the mould crisis, which reportedly affects about 90 homes.
The band has requested the reserve be provided with up to 14 temporary homes while repairs are being made — mobile units that would most likely be brought in by a temporary winter ice road.
About 500 people live at Cat Lake, a fly-in reserve located about 350 kilometres northwest of Thunder Bay.
