Healing Arts and the Use of Natural Ingredients
Don’t miss the luncheon presentation by Elder Della Rice Sylvester, Cowichan Medicine Woman!
Della Rice-Sylvester is a Medicine Woman of the Cowichan Valley, Coast Salish community of British Columbia. She is a healer, cultural keeper, singer, ethnobotanist and workshop trainer of the Cowichan peoples of Vancouver Island. Della studies remedies of local and Indigenous nature to add to her creams and oils and says that each remedy has a season, and each season has its own cycles. Della has developed a wild crafting program that is designed to put control of your health and your families’ health back into your hands, using what the earth provides. She loves talking about how the classroom is the earth and the subjects are the wild plants growing in our river basins, forests and fields. She explains how to use them and when to use them for medicine!
