Up to seven dogs in the Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation community of Ty Histanis have become sick and died within days
A virus is believed to have caused the deaths of as many as seven dogs recently in the Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation community of Ty Histanis near Tofino.
James Rodgers, co-founder and executive director of Coastal Animal Rescue and Education Network, said he started looking into the situation after seeing reports on social media of dogs becoming sick and dying within a matter of days.
Some people were speculating about poison as a possible cause of death because of how quickly the animals were dying, Rodgers said, but it sounded to him like canine parvovirus.
