The Nunavut Food Security Coalition is now accepting funding proposals for projects that will address food insecurity in Nunavut in 2026-2027.

Non-profit organizations, societies, businesses, and municipal organizations are invited to apply for funding in the following areas:

  1. Food security projects:
    • Develop targeted support for those facing household food insecurity.
    • Promote Inuit food sovereignty by sharing skills and knowledge of how to safely obtain and/or prepare traditional foods.
    • Progress programs that help alleviate poverty.
  2. Other food projects:
    • Support Nunavummiut in building essential food skills.
    • Encourage joint learning of food skills and life skills by parents and children.
    • Programs that support hunters.
    • Programs working on emergency food access, such as hampers or food vouchers.
  3. Core funding:
    • Contribute to community food security more broadly by addressing poverty and reducing barriers to food access.
    • Support the core operations of food organizations, enhancing their ability to provide consistent services and programming throughout the year.
    • Work towards programming that goes beyond emergency food relief.
