Press Release
March 11, 2025
The Department of Family Services is committed to supporting initiatives that seek to address gender-based violence (GBV) in Nunavut.
Under the Gender-Based Violence National Action Plan, we offer funding opportunities to support larger-scale community-based initiatives that empower community-based efforts, organizations, and projects aimed at gender-based violence prevention, education, awareness, and support.
The department is currently accepting proposals for the 2025-26 fiscal year.
Projects can commence any time after April 1, 2025.
Proposals should demonstrate how proponents will actively:
• Promote gender-based violence prevention and education.
• Aim to transform social norms, attitudes, and behaviors contributing to gender-based violence.
• Enhance health, social, economic, and justice outcomes of those impacted by gender-based violence.
• Address underlying causes, prevention strategies, mitigation, and responses to gender-based violence.
The deadline for applications is April 10. For application assistance, please contact familysafetyprogram@gov.nu.ca. The application form and program guidelines can be found on the Family Wellness website.
