EDMONTON – Alberta’s Opposition United Conservatives say the government’s plan to bank on the completion of the Trans Mountain oil pipeline expansion to balance the budget is risky business.

Finance Minister Joe Ceci (see-see) says revenue from the yet-to-be built project will be factored into forecasts in the budget he is to table tomorrow.

But the project is facing continued delays and challenges in British Columbia with more on the horizon.

United Conservative Leader Jason Kenney says after so many delays Alberta’s N-D-P government is putting a lot of eggs in one uncertain basket.

Kenney says that’s not how you budget.

Ceci says Alberta’s budget is going to be balanced in 2023 and the government will not make deep spending deep cuts to balance it earlier.

Alberta’s deficit is pegged at 9.1 billion dollars.
