Press Release
19 August 2022
The Department of Health is issuing a boil water advisory for residents of Rankin Inlet.
Due to a mechanical issue at the water treatment plant, chlorine levels in the water are too low to safely consume the water.
During a boil water advisory, all water for consumption must be brought to a rolling boil for a minimum of one full minute.
It is essential that all water be boiled for the following uses:
Water can be boiled either in a pot or kettle on a stove or an electric kettle without an automatic shut-off.
It is not necessary to boil water used for anything other than the above list. The Department of Health will issue an additional Public Health Advisory notifying residents when the water no longer needs to be boiled.
