BCAFN Regional Chief Congratulates Saanich First Nations on the Opening of Homewood Ravensview

The British Columbia Assembly of First Nation’s (BCAFN) Regional Chief Terry Teegee congratulates Chief Rebecca David of the Pauquachin First Nation and other Saanich First Nations on the official opening of Homewood Ravensview, the most comprehensive private mental health, trauma and addiction treatment centre in Western Canada. Regional Chief Terry Teegee is participating today at the grand opening ceremonies. Ravensview is located on the Saanich Peninsula on Vancouver Island and first opened its doors on May 22, 2019.

“This brand-new facility provides unique experiences for clients as it is located on culturally-sacred lands and includes culturally competent care with respectful sharing and promotion of First Nations’ stories and languages, stated BC Regional Chief Terry Teegee. “Mental health and substance use issues continue to be a priority concern for many First Nations communities in BC, and across Canada. The work that is being done here will help individuals realize his or her own potential, cope with the normal stresses of life, and grow their contributions to her or his own family and community.”

Homewood Ravensview, part of Homewood Health, offers treatment for mental health, addiction and concurrent conditions. The centre is located on 28-acres of forested hillside on Vancouver Island’s Saanich Peninsula and focuses on creating individualized client experiences. Homewood Ravensview features forest and ocean views from private and semi-private bedrooms, suites and welcoming common areas. Homewood Ravensview provides 75 beds and will employ more than 80 full-time staff.
