A Warm Invitation to the Nation: Join the Métis Recovery and Wellness Advisory Committee (MRWAC)

Press Release

Apr 22, 2026

The Otipemisiwak Métis Government is seeking Citizens to bring their voices, their wisdom, and their love in a meaningful way to serve our people.

We are forming the Métis Recovery and Wellness Advisory Committee (MRWAC) to ensure our services are designed by Métis, for Métis. Grounded in kinship and walking together, this Committee will guide culturally safe, distinctions-based care that honours who we are as a distinct Nation.

We are inviting:

  • Elders and Knowledge Keepers
  • Citizens with lived/living experience of recovery
  • Métis Caregivers
  • Métis Clinicians, Counselors, and Wellness Workers
  • Métis Researchers and Data Specialists
  • Youth Representatives

You do not need to be a policy expert. We need your life experience, your cultural knowledge, and your commitment to our people.

Your voice will guide:

  • Culturally safe services rooted in a Métis worldview
  • Data sovereignty that protects our Citizens
  • Anti-racism and equity measures that work for us
  • Land-based and traditional wellness models

Honoraria, travel, and protocol costs are provided. If forms or CVs feel like a barrier, reach out—we are here to support you.

Deadline to share your intention: April 29, 2026
Submit your Letter of Interest and CV (or community summary) here: health@metis.org
