Mino Odewin aims to help implement plan focused on areas like housing, safety, inclusion
An Indigenous group in Steinbach is hoping it can help implement the southeastern Manitoba city’s community safety and well-being plan, after an 11-year-old First Nations boy was attacked at his Steinbach school.
Mino Odewin — Anishinaabemowin for “people with good hearts” — formed in Steinbach last year with the goal of bridging cultural gaps and helping the 17 organizations involved in creating the safety and well-being plan.
“Not that we’re replacing any of the support agencies in town,” said Mino Odewin co-founder Bambi Bertholet.
