Retail trade, October 2025
Retail sales decreased 0.2% to $69.4 billion in October. Sales were down in four of nine subsectors, led by decreases at food and beverage retailers.
In 2023, 13.5% of immigrants admitted 1 year earlier settled in another province or territory, up from 10.1% in 2022
Using data from the Longitudinal Immigration Database, this release presents the most recent insights on the mobility of immigrants within Canada, in the years following their admission. Among immigrants admitted in 2022, those who intended to live in Quebec, Ontario, British Columbia and Alberta were the most likely to live in that same province one year later, in 2023.
Environmental and Clean Technology Products Economic Account, 2024
The real gross domestic product (GDP) generated by the environmental and clean technology (ECT) products sector declined by 1.1% in 2024 to $70 billion, following gains of 1.5% in 2023 and 4.9% in 2022. Increases in 2024 in Nunavut (+12.3%), Saskatchewan (+5.3%), Nova Scotia (+2.6%) and Alberta (+1.0%) were not enough to offset the declines in other jurisdictions. The GDP growth rate for the overall economy in 2024 (+1.9%) edged down from that of 2023 (+2.0%) and slowed from the growth seen in 2022 (+4.6%).
