Press Release
August 13, 2025
The Department of Health (Health) invites Nunavummiut to join them in-person for an information session to discuss the implementation of the new Mental Health Act. There will be a session in every community to prepare for the Act, which is anticipated to be implemented in 2026.
The new legislation aims to improve the mental wellness of Nunavummiut and address Inuit-specific needs while ensuring safer care for patients, families, and communities. It is grounded in Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit and tailored to the unique needs of Nunavummiut.
These sessions will explain the key changes in the new Act. All community members are encouraged to attend and learn more.
