Wastewater surveillance continues to show persistent levels of SARS-CoV-2 as society reopens, February to December 2022

Statistics Canada, in partnership with the National Microbiology Laboratory from the Public Health Agency of Canada, continues to collect the Canadian Wastewater Survey to better understand the levels of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, in the wastewater of five Canadian municipalities (Metro Vancouver, Edmonton, Toronto, Montréal, and Halifax).

Childhood National Immunization Coverage Survey, 2021

Vaccines administered during childhood help prevent and control a variety of diseases. The Childhood National Immunization Coverage Survey is undertaken every two years since 2011 by Statistics Canada in partnership with the Public Health Agency of Canada. The findings provide an update on childhood vaccination in Canada, including a comparison with the results of previous cycles.

In May, the number of international arrivals to Canada—non-resident trips and returning Canadian-resident trips—continued to increase from May 2022, but, for most indicators, has not yet reached the number of arrivals recorded in May 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic.

Social Policy Simulation Database and Model, version 30.0

The Social Policy Simulation Database and Model (SPSD/M), version 30.0, is now available. This model includes a dynamic labour adjustment model to reflect employment patterns from 2020 to 2022. It incorporates changes to income taxes and government transfers that were announced prior to December 31, 2022. It is based on 2018 data and can be used to study the effects of changes to federal and provincial tax and benefit programs on families and governments from 1997 through 2027.
