Project Coordinator – Najakulugiit Project Full time, Term to March 31st, 2023
It is the mission of Tungasuvvingat Inuit (TI) to broadly provide Inuit-specific programs that contribute to the health and wellbeing of Inuit and to encourage and support similar programs for Inuit across the country. With over 30 years of highly successful experience in crafting the design, development, and delivery of a wide range of effective, client-centered services, TI continues to deliver quality programs and services that directly benefit our growing urban Inuit population.
Under the supervision of the Manager, Family Wellbeing, the Najakulugiit Project Coordinator is responsible for the successful leadership, planning, development, and delivery of all activities under TI’s Najakulugiit Project. The Najakulugiit Project aims to empower Inuit women in Ontario and support the wellbeing of Inuit families and survivors of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls and 2SLGBTQQIA+ People.
The successful candidate will work in collaboration with the Najakulugiit Women’s Group, which is composed of family members and survivors. They will help the group achieve their vision and objectives, thereby helping to implement some of the key priorities and recommendations identified by the Inuit community in Ontario for inclusion in Canada’s 2021 Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ People National Action Plan.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of Ontario’s Inuit history, culture and health/socio-economic issues/needs, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, and traditional practices, project management principles and techniques, and procurement practices.
Excellent communication skills, presenting and research skills, facilitation and community engagement skills, and computer literacy skills (word processing, publication, data collection, e-mail, and internet) are necessary.
The ability to create and maintain positive and collaborative working relationships, work effectively in a team environment and independently, present and display information using application such as PowerPoint, MS Teams, and Zoom, and work occasional evenings and weekends is required.
Post-secondary education in Indigenous studies, humanities, or social sciences is preferred. One (1) year of of practical and relevant work experience, preferably in a coordinator/ facilitator role. Experience should include working with Inuit, communities, and organizations, coordinating meetings and events, group facilitation and community engagement. Fluency in English is required; Inuktitut language skills are preferred.
An acceptable combination of related education and work experience may be considered.
