Children age five to 11 have started getting vaccinated in Ontario and should start getting doses today in Quebec.
Ottawa’s medical officer of health said at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday that more than 27,700 appointments had been made for this age group.
The drive to vaccinate younger children against COVID-19 could prove tougher and perhaps take longer than earlier age groups, but medical experts say they’re ready to answer all questions and meet parents and caregivers where they’re at.
Hastings Prince Edward Public Health reported 24 more COVID-19 cases Wednesday and one death. Its curve is rising quickly: last Wednesday it reported six more cases, and it’s around 100 known active cases for the first time since May.
How many cases are there?
As of Tuesday, Ottawa has had 31,716 confirmed cases of COVID-19. There are 316 known active cases, while 30,785 cases are considered resolved and 615 people have died from the illness.
