Consumer Price Index, February 2021
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 1.1% on a year-over-year basis in February, up from a 1.0% increase in January. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, the CPI rose 0.1% in February.

Data from the Canadian Tobacco and Nicotine Survey continued to show generational differences in the use of vaping devices. In 2020, 14% of Canadians aged 15 to 19 reported having used a vaping device in the past 30 days, compared with 3% of Canadians aged 25 and older.
Health Reports: Prescription medication use among Canadian children and youth, 2012 to 2017
Nearly one-quarter of children and youth aged 3 to 19—approximately 1.5 million—used at least one prescription medication in the past month and 9% used two or more.

Spending on research and development, 2018 (final), 2019 (preliminary) and 2020 (intentions)
Canada’s gross domestic expenditures on research and development (GERD) totalled $37.5 billion in 2018 ($34.7 billion in 2012 constant prices), up 3.8% from the previous year. This was the highest level on record in both current and constant prices. Over half of the gain was due to an increase in spending on research and development (R&D) performed by the higher education sector, which rose 5.2% to $15.1 billion. The business enterprise sector reported the second largest increase in 2018, with spending up 2.6% to $19.5 billion, representing over a third of the total growth.
