The Indigenous Medical Alliance and True North Aid teams are inviting the public to join them for an evening of education and reconciliation Monday, Nov. 12 at Quinte West Public Library in Trenton.
The group is trying to raise funds for the transportation of medical supplies and equipment to six northwestern Ontario Indigenous communities, including Keewaytinook Okimakanak.
Medical supplies include wheelchairs, walkers, canes, wound care, bathroom supplies, and additional supports. With the supplies, they are also sending qualified medical professionals to provide services that are not available to these communities.
Although the event, which runs from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., is free, organizers ask for a small donation to help them with the transportation and costs associated with transporting the supplies from Kingston to Red Lake to the northern communities.
