Earth, Air, Fire & Water: A Conference on Alternative Healing

SANTA FE, NM–(August 1, 2007) – “Healing Ways,” a four-day conference with 20 experiential workshops, will promote individuals’ inherent abilities to enter into the right relationship with the natural environment. Featured speakers Lewis Mahl-Madrona and Sandra Ingerman will conduct weekend workshops on “Native American and Multicultural Alternative Healing Practices” and “Medicine for the Earth.”Sponsored by Southwestern College, the conference will be held from Wednesday August 22 through Sunday August 26, 2007, at its campus, 3960 San Felipe Road, with weekend sessions at the Santa Fe Center for Spiritual Living, 5050 Camino de los Marquez. The event, which focuses attention on the college’s new ecopsychology certificate program, marks its 26th annual “Transformation & Healing” conference.

Many of the workshops will include ancient and modern eco-therapeutic techniques, ranging from “Awakening to Grace” and “Sacred Oils & Infusions” to “Exploring Mermaid Energy with Art” and “Wellness as Sacred Living: The Greening of Our Values.”

The conference will allow people to bring healing and aliveness into their everyday lives through many other workshops on creating sacred art, writing ceremonial poetry, and creating personal mandalas. Most of the sessions will be taught by local practitioners, including seven alumni of Southwestern College and its founder/president emeritus, Robert Waterman.

Saturday’s keynote speaker, Lewis Mehl-Madrona, is currently Associate Professor of Family Medicine and Psychiatry at the University of Saskatchewan College of Medicine. The author of the best-selling books “Coyote Medicine” and “Coyote Healing,” he will give afternoon and evening workshop that deal with the miraculous, and finding faith, hope and serenity during life-threatening illness.

On Sunday, Sandra Ingerman, a renowned teacher of shamanism and author of “Medicine for the Earth,” “How to Heal Toxic Thoughts,” and many other books, will conduct a personal workshop on spiritual practices to create the world we want to live in.

Individuals can register for one daytime workshop for as little as $35, any three daytime events, one or both weekend workshops, or the entire conference for the full price of $325.
