International Meeting on Indigenous Child Health Invites Workshop Proposals

Call for Workshop Proposals

The 4th International Meeting on Indigenous Child Health will be held in Vancouver, British Columbia, March 4-6, 2011. The meeting provides an opportunity for general paediatricians, family physicians, nurses, community providers, and others who work with indigenous children and youth to come together to share, support, network and build partnerships to improve indigenous child health.The purpose of this international, collaborative conference will be to focus on innovative clinical care models and community-based public health approaches for children and youth in First Nations, Inuit, Métis, American Indian and Alaska Native communities. The Planning Committee invites workshop proposals on all topics pertaining to indigenous child health. Submissions will be accepted from individuals working with indigenous populations, and are not limited to medical providers. The deadline for proposals is May 17, 2010.

Please note that a separate call for oral and poster abstracts will be released in summer 2010.

SESSION FORMAT

Informational Workshops (1 hour) offer an interactive, in-depth review or update on a specific topic, with emphasis on practical information for the participants, or on unique skill-building that participants can utilize to improve health-related programs in their communities (e.g., grant writing, coalition building, motivational interviewing, etc). The workshop format may include a lecture with Q&A, case-based presentations with Q&A, or a facilitated discussion with participant breakout activity. Expected attendance is 40-60 delegates.

The deadline for submitting workshop proposals is May 17, 2010.
