December 17, 2010
The members of an external review team created to help the NOR-MAN Regional Health Authority improve relationships with its communities were announced today by Health Minister Theresa Oswald.
“The review team members have extensive experience in the medical and administrative aspects of Manitoba’s health-care system,” said Oswald. “They will conduct an operational review of the regional health authority, including the opportunity for community feedback, based on a series of issues that have been identified in the area.”The four review team members are:
· Donna Forbes, former assistant deputy minister, Manitoba Health;
· Jan Currie, former chief nursing officer, Winnipeg Regional Health Authority;
· Reg Toews, former chief executive officers, South Eastman Health-Santé Sud-Est; and
· Dr. Brian Postl, dean, faculty of medicine, University of Manitoba, and former CEO, Winnipeg Regional Health Authority.
The review team will focus on seven areas:
· Flin Flon issues,
· finances,
· board functioning and governance,
· CEO performance,
· community relationships,
· First Nations, and
· patient-related issues.
The team will begin working this month and provide a final report in early spring 2011.
The public can submit material to the review team electronically at normanreview@gov.mb.ca or by mail at NOR-MAN Review, P.O. Box 56034, Winnipeg, MB R3B 0G9. Members of the public will also have the opportunity to meet with the review team.
The establishment of the review team follows a commitment made by the province last month to look into concerns expressed by residents served by the NOR-MAN Regional Health Authority, the minister said.
