‘We’ve sort of been emotionally waterboarded with lots of things that we have to process’ psychotherapist says

It’s been three years since COVID-19 was declared a global pandemic by the World Health Organization.
Soon after the declaration on March 11, 2020, lockdowns and restrictions followed, leading many businesses to suffer financially.
Today, with the majority of those restrictions lifted, some independently-owned businesses that took a major hit in sales say they’re recovering a lot better than they expected.
“There was a time when we were closed for about seven months,” said Dennis McHugh, sales manager at the family-operated Fitness Forum gym in London’s White Oaks neighbourhood.
“When you’re closed for that long, it takes people out of a routine that in many instances, has taken them a long time to develop and it can be a very daunting task to get that customer base back.”
